Dear TPA Students and Families,
Thank you for welcoming me into your school community with such warmth. Turning Point Academy students represent a diverse range of backgrounds, strengths, and talents, and it is an honor to serve as your principal. My commitment remains consistent with my previous leadership experiences: supporting students as they overcome challenges and ensuring they are prepared for postsecondary success—whether enlisted, enrolled, or employed. I look forward to strengthening and expanding our community partnerships to create even more opportunities for our students during my tenure.
Before joining TPA, I served as principal at Hawthorne Academy of Health Sciences (2022–2026) and Garinger High School (2018–2022). I hold a bachelor’s degree in sociology/social studies education from Winthrop University in Rock Hill, SC, and a master’s degree in school administration from Queens University of Charlotte. I am also the proud parent of a 2020 graduate of Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools, which allows me to lead with both the perspective of an administrator and the heart of a parent.
At Turning Point Academy, we are committed to creating the conditions for all students to thrive—academically, socially, and personally—both within our walls and beyond them. To continue our growth, we rely on the strong support of families and community partners. I value these relationships and invite parents and community members to engage with our school as often as possible. To get involved, please register as a CMS volunteer; a member of our team will contact you when service opportunities arise.
In closing, I look forward to working alongside you and supporting your students on their journey. Please do not hesitate to contact me at any time with questions or concerns at sharona.bracey@cms.k12.nc.us.
Warm regards,
Sharon A. Bracey, Principal
